Student Intern- Community Engagement
Position Purpose: Under the direction of the SSW Program Coordinator, the student intern will develop and maintain new data resources and provide project management support to the members of the Southland Human Services Leadership Council and SSW Staff
Principle Responsibilities:
- Research, develop, and organize a detailed Southland Human Services Directory across issue areas.
- Research and pull data across issue areas to conduct a community assessment of Southland community services.
- Assist SSW Staff in planning meetings and or special events.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Pursing an undergraduate degree in social sciences, preferably Sociology or Public Policy.
- Organized and ability to prioritize competing assignments within deadlines.
- Skilled in verbal and written communication.
- Good judgment and initiative.
- Discretion in working with highly confidential information.
- Fully proficient and experienced in latest Microsoft Office environment (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of diverse populations and community engagement a plus.

Required hours:
10-15 per week, per supervisor’s approval.
Please note that this is a learning experience and the student intern is not replacing a regular staff position. Both United Way and the student understand that no wages will be given for the internship period.
The candidate must be able to commute to the South-South-west office in order to be considered for the internship.
