An exciting career opportunity awaits an experienced, entrepreneurial minded, and creative development professional, who can help develop and implement a strategy to manage the cultivation and solicitation of major donors (Tocqueville Society donors).
Reporting to the Director, Major Gifts & Women’s Leadership Council, the Major Gifts Officer (MGO) coordinates and manages the cultivation, stewardship and solicitation of major donors (Tocqueville Society $10,000+) and prospects in workplace and non-workplace sectors as assigned and leads the organization’s work related to the growing individual donor engagement and support.
The MGO will develop and implement a plan to expand individual financial support from across the Chicagoland region. with a focus on securing and expanding major donors and new business opportunities from the South-Southwest Region. The Major Gifts Officer also works closely with the United Way/Philanthropic Partnership team at assigned organizations and works directly with volunteers to ensure Tocqueville donor growth and retention.
The ideal candidate will be a gifted written and verbal communicator, who is skilled and experienced in developing and maintaining external relationships. The candidate is also able to articulate the complex work and mission of our organization with ease for a variety of donor audiences. The candidate must be able to work closely with community and business leaders to provide exemplary volunteer support. The lead candidate will also have had demonstrable success in securing major gifts from high net worth individuals and will have some experience and comfort displaying leadership in managing a major gifts program.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree with 3 years related work experience required; familiarity and experience in managing a donor database. At least three years of experience in individual major gifts and/or other cause-related fundraising experience. Experience in soliciting and obtaining large gifts, as well as event planning, are essential. Fully proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Access a plus).
